A NEW FAITH see’s oil painter Joel Rea return to Makersplace for his annual 1/1 Animation Auction drop. Rea delivers a new multi layered surreal seascape scene depicting his own epic personal saga as a universal story of birth, death and change.

Rea travels globally to world renowned surf spots photographing and studying our planet’s most dramatic waves, gathering reference material from land & surf photoshoots. Combined with his meticulous painting techniques Rea evokes spiritual introspection though the use of self portraiture and narrative story telling. 

Taking many months of oil on canvas brush strokes in hyperrealist style, A New Faith was painted during the death of the artist’s father and birth of his own son. The cycle of life is expressed poetically within this Tsunami Wave scene with visuals accompanied by guitar & vocals performed also by Rea. This documentation of the artists personal saga is now captured within A New Faith as a totemistic symbol of the theme of change, that nothing is permanent except change, like an enormous wave you cannot stop.
