Solitude Safari: Exploring NYC's Peaceful Paradises

I have always been intrigued by how individuals find solace in the chaos of New York City. Whether that’s going to the beach, the park, a balcony, or even a small patch of grass, every piece of nature within the city becomes a common ground for those looking for peace.
This show is a collection of memories and everyday scenes throughout my time in NYC. Subject matter that I’ve captured in my sketchbook or photographed, now on canvas. It’s about places I’ve seen or moments I’ve experienced while roaming around. Mostly alone, but other times with friends and family documenting my surroundings on location. It’s through this creative process that I have become enamored by the energy of this city and the peacefulness it offers.
When I first arrived in NYC years ago, I was shocked by everyone walking with their phones, always on the move (myself included). It became an obsession of mine to capture these moments of people in their everyday lives. However, as I dove deeper into the city, I discovered a parallel existence-an escape from work and technology, where people found joy and contentment in their own peaceful world. These contrasting experiences became a fascination of mine to capture both chaos and solitude to preserve these everyday moments.
In this exhibition, I invite viewers to think about life in New York City—Its chaos and tranquility within its urban landscape and how we live in both worlds together. Through my art, I want to transport you to these spaces, inviting you to find your own moments of solace.

Born and raised in Oregon, Alimo finds himself traveling all over the world to find inspiration to paint. His process relies on an obsession with interacting and interpreting the world around him. This process involves daily watercolor paintings and sketches on location to brain dump ideas, to then polishing compositions on both the computer and canvas.
I’m best known for my curvy post-pop imagery, highly saturated colors, vibrant hand-drawn letters, and worlds inhabited by figures arranged on flat tonal surfaces. My line-work blends both drawing and design with inspiration from the ocean to the mountains. The art can typically be seen on paintings, NFTs, prints, and merchandise. I get inspiration from the outdoors, snowboarding, surfing, exploring, photography, hanging with friends, and anything that provokes creativity.
At the core of my work lies a fascination with people and their everyday lives. I seek to uncover the magic in the mundane, the beauty in the ordinary, and the stories that connect us all. Through my art, design, and technology, I invite you to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, where every creation is a testament to the world as I see it.
Over the years, i've been lucky enough to work with clients like Nifty Gateway, Patagonia, Vans, Apple, 10 Barrel Brewing Co., and Volcom to name a few. I've been working as a professional artist and designer for over 10 years, and recently been interested in the NFT world as an addition to my traditional mediums. I love how it empowers artist for their value, along with a new tool to explore and get creative with.
