I live in a region rampant with war and instability, where people are raised on hypocrisy and double standards; yet also wealth, luxury, entrepreneurship, warmth and hospitality. My work reflects that socio-political dichotomy, albeit sarcastically, by holding up a mirror to society, loud and unequivocally clear, drawing people in and allowing them to open a dialogue. In 2012, when Kuwait authorities shut down my show “It’s a Man’s World”, they wanted to censor me as a woman and female artist. But I came back bolder than ever, and when the authorities shut down my 15th solo art exhibition again in January 2020 on the false premises that my work “encourages immorality", I fought back peacefully with a collection of NFTs that can’t be censored by my government. I intend to affect social reform, instigate positive change, and break stereotypes of what it means to be a woman, artist and mother. And I’m doing it all from the remoteness of my home in Kuwait, where I live alone with my 4 children, utilizing NFTs as a peaceful non-censorable weapon for freedom and autonomy. I’ve been a traditional artist for 30 years, and an NFT artist for 2 years. I have a PhD in Ekphrasis, my work has won numerous awards over the years, and has been published and anthologized internationally, studied at universities, and I have been a Guest Speaker, a judge, and a panel examiner at various universities and conferences. I was the first female Kuwaiti artist to be auctioned at Christie's Auction house, the first female Kuwaiti artist to exhibit at the Venice Biennale, the first Kuwaiti artist to enter the world of NFTs, and have been listed at One of The Top Influential Arab Women in Web3, and one of the Top 50 GCC Women Leaders, as well as one of the 46 Most Inspirational People of Kuwait.

My art is a celebration of diversity, a rejection of conformity, and a reflection of the interconnectedness of all things. I draw inspiration from the intersection of art and science: exploration and experimentation. My interdisciplinary work is characterized by a rejection of preconceived notions about what art is or should be. I do not limit myself to any single medium, style, or technique. My approach is to allow my art to behave as all matter within a system does: it transforms as it interacts with other matter and its environment. This approach gives me true creative freedom. It also allows me to be open enough to transcend the systems and structures that limit me from creating something bigger and bolder than I can yet imagine. One of my core values as an artist is collaboration. Even when I work alone, I see my work as a collaboration with everything and everyone around me. Scientific principles and concepts often inform my artistic choices. For example, in my recent series of mixed-media works, I used mathematical and scientific theories to inform pieces that explore the blurred lines between the mechanical and spiritual realms of existence. I also do not shy away from social commentary in my work as my series "They Can't Erase Us" demonstrates. Ultimately, my work aims to transport the viewer into a world of vibrant colors, beautiful patterns, and bold shapes that challenge the way we see the world around us. By rejecting conformity and embracing interconnectedness, I hope to create a space for viewers to engage with my work in a way that is both playful and profound. I believe that art has the power to connect us with ourselves, each other, and the mysteries of life. Through my art, I hope to inspire others to see the beauty and interconnectedness of all things, and to embrace the transformative power of creativity in their own lives.

In March of 2021, I learned I had some form of dissociative identity disorder, but my stubborn self still couldn't or wouldn't believe it. I was convinced my new therapist was wrong, I just had depression, and was lazy. So I told myself that if I really did have other parts to prove it, show itself. I told it to do something only I/we would know. I needed proof. A few days later, I was coloring with my son and I turned the page over when I finished and just started drawing lines. Drawing lines quickly turned into me drawing a face, which suddenly led to me quickly remembering how I used to draw this face ALL THE TIME when I was a teenager. That that wasn’t all I remembered, though. ➡️ I remembered how I used to make cool analog collages. ➡️ I remembered I could draw and started drawing again, getting better at it, quickly. ➡️ I realized I had grown my design skills since I turned my passion into a career. So I decided to apply what I learned 👩🎓 + my ❤️ of collages and digital art into making 🖼 again.
