From the outside, art is regarded as highbrow, intellectual, and "human". Automation, however, is often perceived as rote, boring, and "robotic" by those who are non-technical. As an engineer by education and trade, I see the act of automation as a much more creative process than the public gives it credit for. In my artistic practice I try to bridge that gap by using software to automate the generation of unique art pieces in less than a fraction of a second. My hope is to elicit the same kind of emotions and reactions that viewers feel when viewing art that has been "generated" by hand, and help them consider automation as an art form and an act of creativity. Whether acting as an artist, or engineer, I like to think of automation as my artistic medium.

In March of 2021, I learned I had some form of dissociative identity disorder, but my stubborn self still couldn't or wouldn't believe it. I was convinced my new therapist was wrong, I just had depression, and was lazy. So I told myself that if I really did have other parts to prove it, show itself. I told it to do something only I/we would know. I needed proof. A few days later, I was coloring with my son and I turned the page over when I finished and just started drawing lines. Drawing lines quickly turned into me drawing a face, which suddenly led to me quickly remembering how I used to draw this face ALL THE TIME when I was a teenager. That that wasnβt all I remembered, though. β‘οΈ I remembered how I used to make cool analog collages. β‘οΈ I remembered I could draw and started drawing again, getting better at it, quickly. β‘οΈ I realized I had grown my design skills since I turned my passion into a career. So I decided to apply what I learned π©βπ + my β€οΈ of collages and digital art into making πΌ again.
