SmackPack : celebrating the SmackMan 5 Year Anniversary

About
the Exhibit

Come one, come all and join MakersPlace the FLUX COLLECTIVE as we celebrate the momentous occasion of Reinhard Shmid’s iconic creation “SmackMan'' and his 5th anniversary of living on the blockchain!

Reinhard Schmid invited 20 talented creators in the web3 space to make their own version of SmackMan to pay tribute on his 5th birthday, including: Coldie, Skeenee, Patric Ortmann (MOTIONSICKNESS), Gala Mirissa, hair of medusa, George Boya, Basileus, Tania Rivilis, Valérie Biet, jrdsctt, sturec, Joern Bielewski (Shortcut), J U N G, buzzlightning, Arne Spangeried, Ian (Sum of Primes), Decryptolorian, SidXO, Basseado, and TheDigitalCoy.

SmackMan was first born in 1998 when Reinhard Schmid was living in Chicago in a painting titled “Siebenmeilenschnecke” and was later removed from the context of the original painting and tokenized on MakersPlace in 2018. Since then he has become synonymous with all things Reinhard Schmid, MakersPlace, NFTs, web3, and more!

Please checkout Reinhard Schmid’s full historical write-up of “SmackMan” here: The SmackMan

Additionally, there will be an IRL gallery event celebrating SmackMan, Reinhard Schmid, and the featured artists in Düsseldorf, Germany on Saturday, December 16th at ‘NEONREAL - The Gallery”, put on by The FLUX COLLECTIVE. You can learn more about the event here: https://neonreal-gallery.com/

About

Reinhard Schmid is a professional artist for more than 30 years. His fantastic, surreal images are based on a general concept which he calls the venusmachine. The combination of the sensuous female energy with the more technical male aspects, often depicted in some kind of machinery.

His work is whimsical, complex and mostly with a humorous or erotic touch. He regularly uses his traditional paintings as a base for his digital art.
